Useful information for driving from Málaga Airport
The airport is just 7 kilometres from the centre of Málaga. The most direct exit is via the A-7 towards Málaga, connecting with the MA-20 (Ronda de Málaga). Estimated time to the centre: 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. For the Costa del Sol, the AP-7 towards Marbella is the fastest option (with toll).
Avoid the A-7 between the airport and the centre from 8:00 to 9:30 and from 17:30 to 20:00 on working days.
Málaga’s ZBE covers the Historic Centre, the Soho and other central areas. Unlike other cities, it directly affects the tourist areas. Moovers’ entire fleet carries the DGT environmental label, so you can drive without restrictions through the centre of Málaga, the Paseo Marítimo, Calle Larios or the area around the Alcazaba at any time.
Once in the city, the most convenient option is the underground car parks near the Alcazaba, the Alameda Principal or the Museo Picasso. For short stops, the blue zone allows up to 1-2 hours. In high season, arriving early at the car park is key to avoid wasting time.
With unlimited mileage, the airport is the gateway to the whole of Andalusia: the Caminito del Rey is 1 hour away, Ronda 1 hr 20 min, Nerja 50 minutes and Granada 1 hr 30 min. The car you pick up at the airport is the same one you can use to explore the entire Costa del Sol and the interior.
