Parking in Barcelona is perfectly feasible if you know how the system works. The city divides parking in Barcelona into regulated zones and public car parks, and the key is knowing which to use depending on how long you’ll leave the vehicle.
Blue zone
Paid on-street parking, available in almost every neighbourhood. The maximum time varies between 1 and 2 hours depending on the zone. Ideal for short stops.
Green zone
Priority for residents. Visitors can park, but at a higher rate and with a more limited time than the blue zone. Common in neighbourhoods such as Eixample or Gràcia.
Underground car parks
The most convenient option for visits lasting several hours. They can be found all over Barcelona, near the Sagrada Família, on Passeig de Gràcia and next to Barceloneta. Some stay open 24 hours.

Gran Via / Diagonal
The two great avenues that structure the Eixample. Well signposted and easy to drive outside rush hours.
Access from El Prat Airport
Via the C-31 or the C-32 motorway (toll) to the Rondas. Estimated time 20–30 minutes depending on traffic.
Access from Sants
Directly connected to the Ronda de Dalt and the Gran Via. Estimated time to the centre or the Eixample: 5–10 minutes.
Rush hours to avoid: from 8:00 to 9:30 and from 17:30 to 19:30, especially on the access roads via the Rondas and the C-32.
Since 2020, Barcelona has had a Low Emission Zone that restricts the most polluting vehicles from driving on weekdays.
