🎉 Moros y Cristianos in Alcoy (2–5 May)
One of Alicante’s best-known festivals, officially recognized as an event of International Tourist Interest. Enjoy breathtaking parades, theatrical embassy performances, and exciting battle reenactments featuring fireworks and gunpowder. Don’t miss the ‘Entrada’ parade on May 2nd—a stunning showcase filled with music, vibrant colors, and spectacular costumes. The Christian procession begins at 10:30 am, followed by the Moors’ procession at 5:00 pm.

🏰 Moros y Cristianos in Onil (1–4 May)
Onil, affectionately known as the ‘cradle of dolls,’ comes alive every year in honor of its patron saint, the Virgen de la Salud, with festivities full of tradition, color, and heartfelt ceremonies. In 2025, the celebrations will run from May 1st to 4th, kicking off spectacularly with the ‘Nit de l’Olleta’ on April 30th. Be sure to catch the vibrant main parade at 5:30 pm on May 1st, the theatrical embassy performances in front of the historic Palacio-Fortaleza del Marqués de Dos Aguas, and the moving farewell procession—a genuine local gem you won’t want to miss.

🌼 May Fair in Torrevieja (8–12 May)
Inspired by traditional Andalusian fairs, this event features beautifully decorated tents, delicious regional cuisine, live music, and flamenco and equestrian shows along the Mediterranean coast.
It takes place at Antonio Soria Park.
🕍 Santa Faz Pilgrimage (1 May)
Join one of Spain’s most beloved pilgrimages, as thousands walk from Alicante to the Santa Faz Monastery for a day steeped in tradition and spirituality. Starting around 7:00 am, pilgrims receive sprigs of rosemary and traditional treats such as mistela and rollitos de anís. The journey begins at Alicante’s Concatedral de San Nicolás and concludes at the monastery, where an official mass features a heartfelt performance by the Coral Tabarquera. Afterwards, families relax outdoors with picnics and browse through the bustling artisan market—a wonderful way to truly soak in Alicante’s vibrant local culture.
